Lewis Hamilton Scoops Up Three Autosport Awards

The 22 year old who took fans and Formula 1 by storm in his rookie season, broke yet another record as he became the first man to win three Autosport Awards in the same year. He picked up International Driver, British Competition Driver and Rookie of the year.

Lewis became the first man since Damon Hill, the previous British champion to win both International Driver and British Driver in the same year.

The Rookie took the championship all the way t the last race in Brazil and missed out on the title by just one point.

If Lewis is capable of this quality of driving in his first year, then that leaves a lot to be desired for his future in the sport as it is possible for him to become one of the best drivers the sport has ever seen.

What is Alonso Doing?

There have been many rumours regarding Fernando Alonso and which team he will be driving for next season.

As things stand it is said that he is looking for a one year contract, because he has signed with Ferrari for 2009 but none of the teams want him for just one year. His former team Renault have tried to make a deal for two years and Red Bull Racing has tried for the same, with the possibility of a third year but Alonso has abolished both.

Last week it was said that Alonso had been to the Honda factory for a seat fitting Honder later denied this.

If things carry on as they are, Alonso could end up taking a year out until his possible drive at Ferrari. Only time will tell.

Testing

With all the new rule changes that come with the 2008 season, the teams and all their drivers have been testing in Barcalona and Jurez

The rule changes include the ban of Traction Control, Launch Control and ABS (Antilock Brake System) many changes have had to be made to all the cars. along with the car changes a lot of drivers have been forced to change their driving styles, because most of them have not driven a formula 1 car with out these control devices.

Ferrari had the benifit of using Michael Schumacher in testing as he won a number of world Championships during the previous time when these devices were banned.

Also with the possibility of slick tyres returning in 2009, the drivers have been testing with both them and grooved.
